Salvaging bad design (in writing)?
-I write about Interior Design. Yeah, exciting, I know. But today, I've been tasked with writing about a design that has (1) no theme, (2) looks atrocious, and (3) leaves me at a loss for words. How can I come up with a concept statement for a room that, frankly, has no theme at all?
My aim is to salvage bad design by making it seem (in writing) not as bad as it really is. Any ideas?

Why isnt my boiler working :-s?
-my boiler has decided to break, the pilot flame is off but the pressure is fine and the fan comes on when you turn it on. It is an old gas combi boiler and has never given me any problem, is there an easy (cheap) way to fix it? I cant see any buttons to relight the pilot flame. The three lights on the display are flashing green but when I turn a hot water tap or heating on thye middle one flashes red.
does anyone know whats wrong so I can get it sorted asap because I've had to use a kettle to wash my hair for 3 days!!!
Thanks! :-)Attempt to relight the pilot.
Place the burner knob to the ignition position if it has one.
Press and hold the burner knob for 20-30 seconds to allow the gas to build up.
Press the ignition button and continue to hold the gas button for 30-60 second to allow
the thermocouple to warm up. Then move the gas knob to the main burner position.
Should this fail wait 2 minutes before retrying.
If pilot light will not stay on it is either a thermocouple or gas valve fault. Will need a gas safe engineer.
If you have nothing on the front to relight a pilot light then does your boiler actually have a pilot light?
Need the boiler make and model. If not then there is an ignition fault. Does the boiler fire up in central heating mode?Dave C may be right but i would safely bet the Pilot light is covered in soot and needs a good clean out.I come across this all the time.Call ur local gas man.Simple job and not long to fix.
Answer from David C. had the best answer. Follow his advise. He is very knowledgeable.
surely it wont work if the pilot light is off, as this is what fires the boiler to provide your hot water
David C in wrong. It is wore out. Get a new one.

How much do you think it costs?
-See I'm making a fanfic and the girl is a runaway orphan who only makes enough money to pay for a small crappy apartment and a little left over to buy a five dollar foot long.
So her apartment is a unused room with a very low ceiling, no electricity so she uses candles, no water or control over the temperature. There is only a bathtub and table. She lives in the part where this thing makes a loud noise whenever someone uses the elebator.
How much would that be? Like how much would you pay?

Can you wash dishes with laundry soap?
-This Asian lady I know says she does and it works well and I am thinking, soap is soap right? We are low on dish soap and kind of broke.Has anyone else done this? It's not dangerous. It will get the dishes clean and you should rinse in super hot water to make sure you are rinsing off any residues which may be hanging on to your dishes. You can get dish detergent at any dollar store in America. And soap is not just soap, or you'd wash your hair and body with laundry detergent and I'm not willing to go that far to save a buck.Consider NOT using any detergents (soap). In most applications, detergents do NOT clean, they are used to loosen the dirt and water does the actual cleaning.
Step 1
Dishes: Using a dish rag and/or scouring pad in water clean the dish as best you can
Step 2
This is very important... In a pan boil some water and once you've cleaned a dish, dip it in the boiling hot water. The dish is now sterilized.
Real simple and NO soaps or detergents
Sure you can. Both are detergents and will work in a similar fashion. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that dishwashing liquids are formulated for lots of bubbles, where laundry detergents want little bubbles.
I probably wouldn't, since laundry detergent can often contain bleach... also, I think dish soap is more geared to be antibacterial. I would use regular soap before I used laundry soap. If you do, though, I'd say just rinse them really well.
Yes,I have had to do this before. You can use laundry detergent to wash dishes, just be sure to rinse them well.
We use laundry soap to wash dishes.
It is not recommended to use but make sure you wash the dishes very well.
It's probably danger
No of course you can't.
Yes, soap is soap. Rinse well.
Don't do it.

What color should I paint my living room?
-I have a some what small living room and need help with picking a good color. I have a black couch with multi color cushions colored with a little of each color (black, blue, light brown, gold) I also have a large brown ottoman that will stay in the living room and a fire place with light brown tile trim work that leads to the floor. I will be placing medium light color laminated floors down after I paint.
I wanted to color the living room a light green..not bright green, but think that color would clash with the couch.
Please can I get any suggestions without getting rid of the couch?my suggestion is to choose a color that creates a mood for your living room and at the same time matches with your couch, like light brown. Why don't you experiment with different colours or wallpaper or art using mydeco.com's 3D room planner, you can add furniture to the room, change the colour of the floor (before you choose the colour of the laminate) and you can view the room from different angles and add or change any light fixtures too.
I used it when I was decorating my room and it was OK.
Hope that helps.
Actually the green wouldn't clash if you got the right shade of green. Like a very light sea-foam green. Go see the color cards/swatches at your favorite paint supply store. I have been painting my living room this past week and I am painting it a very light peach color, (with one wall a very light mint green), I believe something like this would also look good for your room.
Would a celery green work for you?

Do you need a permit to redo the shingles on your house's roof?
-I am redoing my own roof with my dad, who use to be a roofer. This morning one of my neighbors stopped me and asked me if I got a permit to do this and said that she always heard you needed one. Is this true? My dad have never heard of this either. I live in South Carolina. No! She's being a Mrs Kravitz! If you were remodeling your roof to change the roof line or structure, you would need a permit, but not to re-roof your house!Your nosy neighbor is just that and uneducated as to her "presumptuous" terminology.
When having shingles replaced in South Carolina you may want to check to ensure your contractor is "licensed", but they and "you" do not need a permit, unless you plan on altering the sub structure to add an addition for example.
Ask her how many permits she's pulled to redo hers then say to her
"That's what I thought...none", but thanks for the concern!
Neighbors like that will make their way back into their house as quickly as possible and call someone behind your back in attempt to report your "crime"
If she keeps it up I would build a 20 foot stockade fence with barbed wire between your property lines.
some communities require you to get permission from the council,,,however if you do not live in such a community you can do it without permits,,,
