I just bought a house but my outside faucet just decided not to turn.?

-I have a new house (1 month old). After watering the lawn today, I couldn't get my outside faucet's handle to turn off (it turned off partway, then wouldn't turn either way after that). I searched for an answer but all the answers were about older faucets or winter time. The faucet is new and the house hasn't even been through a winter yet. Thanks in advance for your help!sounds like either the faucet has got a foreign object in it or the washer has came off in the faucet.can you isolate it and take it apart? see if anything looks missing from the stem.you might have to turn the water on for a second to blow out anything in that line.newer houses can have debris in the line, and that faucet is at the end of the line.A couple of these other answers look like they're probably on the right track (one looks like an advertising bot, though), but let me add this:

A lot of sillcocks are the self-draining kind, so there isn't a solid column of water exposed to wintertime temperatures. That means that when you turn it off, there's a sudden spray at the end where the water trapped in the hose lets its pressure off (in dramatic fashion). When that happens, the valve is completely closed.

My experience with these self-drainers is limited to Carlton Brass brand, but others may be similar. My point is this: don't turn it off as far as it will go. With Carlton and maybe with other brands, when it sprays that water from the drain, you're done. Turn it further and you risk damaging the sealing rubber at the end of the stem, and it's a pain in the butt to repair it. It's not impossible to repair, but it is a pain.

Good luck with it!
Hi There,

You are going to need a new faucet. It is broken or something has jammed up inside.

That can happen to either a new or old faucet but is unusual.

Hope this helps,

Al
