Things (Plants, Etc.) To Adsorb/Get Rid of A Nasty Odor?

-I've heard there are plants that can adsorb a variety of odors, but my problem is that my roommate has a... bad odor. I have confronted him, and he promises he is bathing properly, so I believe it's just a natural odor he has that I hate; like, it makes me gag to go into his room, it's really awful. But I can't afford to get rid of him, and, while I am searching for a new roommate, I've not been having much luck.

Now I do try to keep the house immensely clean; baking soda applied directly on things he sits on every once in a while, air fresheners, bugging him about his hygiene, research, airing the place out, etc., etc., etc. But I haven't found a good solution. So, I heard about plants, but I need to know if there is a type; preferably non-toxic, since we have cats, that would truly mask or get rid of the odor! I've tried scented candles and incense and everything, so something that just masks the odor doesn't seem the most effective, but at this point I'm willing to try anything. I'm sick of this situation! 10 points for the best answer. There's not a plant on this planet that will effectively absorb your room-mates B.O.

Some flowering plants are more "fragrant" than others, but again that would just mask the odor.

Sounds like you're doing the best you can to mask the odor as any sensible person would.

May I suggest to inquire as to how he washes his clothes?

I knew this guy who left his wet wash in the machine for days, because

He didn't know leaving it there that long would eventually give it an awful (sour) smell.

Maybe it's that simple?

Does he eat allot of "Garlic"?

All things considered, a proper bath works in all cases to alleviate odors.

Maybe he misses some spots and needs to be directed "where, what and how" to wash.

Maybe he doesn't know the rest of us use soap!Nothing will get rid of his odor except a good bath soap and a good washing for his clothes.

A good bath soap like the gold dial with get rid of the odor plus some deodorant. He is not using a good soap.

Some tide or cheer plus some baking soda in the wash water will get his clothes clean. Or the Arm and Hammer laundy soap.
Only a cut raw onion will absorb really bad smells.

This is often used in a freshly painted room to take fumes away.

Cut one in half and place it in the room, maybe on a windowsill.
