It is used almost like grass to cover the brown soil in a flower patchIt is a sedum, not an ice plant. Very similar.

That is a sedum ground cover, sometimes referred to as chicks and hens. Just no hens in that picture
What they said. I had two, until they got some pest. They have white, pink or orange flowers if I remember correctly.
